How Does Kybella Work?
Kybella is made of synthetic deoxycholic acid, and when injected beneath the chin, it gradually destroys the fat and makes the area unable to harbor excess fat in the future. Deoxycholic acid occurs naturally in the body and aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat, and Kybella works by directing a concentrated dose so patients can remove fat from a particularly stubborn area. After the fat cells have been destroyed by Kybella, the body simply metabolizes and sheds them in the weeks that follow.
What is Kybella Treatment Like?
If you and our team agree that Kybella is the best way to achieve your aesthetic goals, the process will start with us marking your chin and creating a grid to map out the pattern of injections. On average, 20-50 injections are necessary. The acid quickly destroys the fat cells in the area, but it will take some time for the body to remove them and results to be noticeable. A numbing agent is applied before administering the injections, but a little swelling and bruising are common afterward. These usually resolve within three to five days. While some patients can achieve their desired result with one treatment, most patients require two to four rounds.
